In what has been a big week since the final Aon Uni7s round held at the University of Canberra. A number of UC7s athlete’s have been rewarded for strong performance throughout by being given an opportunity at the next level.
UC7s regulars Lillyann Mason-Spice, Alahna Ryan, Kobe Nona and wider squad member Janalee Conroy were all selected in the First Nations 7s side who finished in 2nd place play at the Western Sydney 7s. The side will also compete at the Hottest 7s in Darwin on the 23rd and 24th of November.
In what’s proved to be a massive week for Lillyann Mason-Spice she along with UC7s Alumni Sammie Wood and Michaela Leonard have been named for Australia ‘A’ in the 15-a-side game to take part in a development tour of Fiji.
UC7s team members Lily Murdoch and Aroha Spillane have been selected to represent the NSW Junior 7s team at the upcoming Junior 7s Nationals on the Sunshine Coast (29 November to 1 December). While, Ella Ryan, Ainsley Scrivener and Caitlin Quester are expected to feature in the ACT Junior 7s team’s campaign.
Last but not least, Rachel Crothers, off strong performances across the Aon Uni7s series that earned her a nod in the Uni7s Dream Team. Rachel will be given an opportunity to represent her country at the Oceania Sevens in Suva, Fiji (7 – 9 November). Rachel has been called into the AU7s side as an injury cover but will be given an opportunity to play against Canada on Thursday (12.56pm) and New Zealand on Friday (11.06am).
