The University of Canberra Women’s Rugby Sevens (UC 7s) are going into Round 3 with the same approach that got them their first medal in the team’s three-year history.
There are no new names going into the penultimate round of the Aon University Sevens Series this weekend at the University of Adelaide. The team, which is largely the same as Round 2, earnt themselves a bronze medal which boosted the squad’s confidence.
The result meant that the UC 7s climbed one spot up the ladder, leaving them in fifth place and drawing with the University of Adelaide.
Head Coach of the UC 7s, Liam McGrath, said that the medal claim was a huge win for the team given that it’s their youngest group that has travelled.
“It’s a massive boost of confidence given they did this without their Aussie 7s teammates. They’ve now got the belief that not only can they compete at this level, but they can be successful, and we’re excited to see how that translates in the last two rounds,” said Mr McGrath.
The UC 7s will face the University of Queensland, Bond University, University of Technology Sydney and University of New England this weekend in Pool B.
