Following just three weeks of preparation, the girls started the event strongly on Saturday winning 3/3 matches, playing local giants Belconnen along the way.

Unfortunately they fell to Illawarra on Sunday morning before drawing with Sydney perennial strength team Manly.  These results were sufficient to finish 2nd in the round robin and qualify for the final match.

The final was against Illawarra whom had beaten us early on Sunday morning.  They started strongly and took out first set, unfortunately the older more experienced Illawarra settled and the UC girls fell in four sets at the final hurdle taking out the Silver medal.

A great effort for a first time together as a team with minimal preparations.  Congratulations to all players.

Bring on 2019 when this group will form the basis of the UC UniGames team to the Division two Nationals.
